The Cordeel Cup is a series of 6 challenges centred on our new corporate values. Each challenge has a link to one of these values and aims to make it better known within the organisation and to activate it. For each challenge, one or more teams are put together at each location to take up the challenge. With each challenge, points can be earned.

Our value none of us is as smart as all of us emphasises the importance of working together and joining forces to achieve the best results. No individual has all the answers or the wisdom to face all challenges alone. It is therefore important to learn how to collaborate effectively and get the best out of different talents. Mix it up

In group challenges, avoid creating teams of solely like-minded individuals who share the same beliefs and opinions. A group of people with different backgrounds are more likely to bring fresh ideas, thorough decision-making, and encourage innovation.

Define roles and responsibilities

Clear roles and responsibilities within a team prevent tension and wasted effort. Each team member should know their tasks, avoiding overlap and confusion. Setting clear goals ensures alignment and supports effective teamwork.

Build trust within the team

It is sometimes difficult to work productively with somebody that you don’t know. Trust is crucial for team success. Foster trust by engaging in team-building activities, sharing meals, or socializing outside of work. Building trust will enhance morale, job satisfaction, and productivity.

Communication = a two-way Street

Effective communication is essential for teamwork. It may seem obvious, but it often gets overlooked. Clear and frequent communication aligns team members, enhances accuracy, and reduces timelines. It also fosters trust and boosts overall team performance. Encourage colleagues to freely share ideas, suggestions, and opinions.

Don’t play the blame game

Instead of giving accusations (you!), focus on the change that needs to occur (how) and keep your feedback constructive. Be clear on what you expect and give examples of behavior that you want to see changed. Stick to the facts to avoid an emotional confrontation and create the space for a conversation that leads to a positive outcome.

Let others help you

Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Working in a team means that you can rely on your colleagues for help when needed. Saying ‘thank you’ goes a long way and will inspire others to offer help, which, in turn, will make others in need a little more confident in reaching out.
